While TERRA fully recognises that journalists and the media must be totally free of controlling influences, research clearly shows that the media has a vital role to play in forming the social context which can lead to radicalisation. Avoiding ethnic and religious stereotypes, and inflammatory reporting styles and providing positive role models can form a climate in which prevention activities can be more easily realised. TERRA will develop guidelines designed to support and promote best practice in the media around the issue of terrorism and radicalisation
