TERRA II CONFERENCE AMSTERDAM

Arq Psychotrauma Expert Group The Netherlands organises the TERRA conference ‘Prevention, De-radicalisation and Citizenship’ on the 26th of November in Amsterdam. Top international experts and members of the Advisory Board, Professor Fathali Moghaddam, Georgetown University (USA), Maajid Nawaz, from the Quilliam Foundation (UK), Dr. Lorenzo Vidino, George Washington University (USA) and Rt Hon, Hazel Blears, former member of the British parliament,  will share their expertise with the Dutch audience. The morning program will be in English, and the practical workshops around the TERRA Toolkit which will be given in the afternoon will be in Dutch.

THE PROGRAM ON EXTREMISM AT GEORGE WASHINGTON UNIVERSITY 

 The Program on Extremism at George Washington University’s Center for Cyber and Homeland Security was established in June 2015 with the goal of spearheading a more nuanced and inclusive debate about extremism, with a particular focus on Islamism, in America and the West. Read more 

CURRICULUM GLOBAL CITIZENSHIP U.CARE

U.CARE is a curriculum developed at University College Roosevelt, one of the international honors colleges of Utrecht University. The curriculum is part of the TERRA Global Citizenship Program. Over the course of more than one year, researchers have been working on a curriculum which could be implemented in high schools. The curriculum is intended to support teachers in inspiring pupils to foster an interest in global issues and to elaborate their social-emotional skills. Read more

 

PRELIMINARY REPORT

 Following our conference in Brussels in March of this year, we produced a preliminary report, based upon the results of a definition study, needs assessment and a methodology defining our next steps. This is now available on our website.

WORK VISIT FROM DENMARK

From the 22nd to the 25th of September, we at TERRA enjoyed a visit from 26 of our colleagues from Denmark, a mixture of police men and women, social workers and people working for three Danish city councils.This trip was organised by Fryshuset Denmark, a new NGO which focusses on deradicalisation and improving social cohesion. Read more 


TERRA SITE VISITS

During the needs assessment which we conducted at our conference in March, we asked participants to tell us about projects, policies or activities which they see as best practices in Europe currently.  Participants informed us about several successful projects, and in order to be able to incorporate the lessons learned from their experiences, we would like to know more about how they work, who they reach, and how they are embedded in local and national policy. Read more
