Introduction of the project

TERRA is a European project on radicalisation leading to terrorism, and the role victims of terrorism can play in preventing radicalisation. TERRA is designed to strengthen European networks of stakeholders involved in addressing terrorism and radicalisation. It will bring together representatives from target groups who can play a vital role in the signalling and the de-radicalisation process, for example teachers, police men and women, religious leaders, and prison workers. First working conference TERRA

On the 27th and 28th of June 2013 the first TERRA working conference will be held in Amsterdam. This conference will be attended by 50 participants representing all 27 EU member states. The state of the art knowledge on the process of radicalisation will be presented, and the attendees will be asked to contribute to this knowledge with their expertise and experience. Learn more

Interview with Maarten van de Donk

The Radicalisation Awareness Network (RAN) is set up by the European Commission as an EU-wide umbrella network of practitioners and local actors involved in countering violent radicalisation. Until 2015 different working groups will exchange experiences, knowledge and good practices. RAN supports the policy process at the EU and Member States' level. The RAN Secretariat is executed by Radar Consultancy. Maarten van de Donk is a member of RAN Secretariat. Learn more


Research will play a vital role in creating the tools which TERRA will ultimately produce. Aside from using the considerable expertise which is contained in the network which TERRA brings together, TERRA researchers have already conducted a literature review. On the basis of these findings, TERRA will conduct further research amongst the target groups. Read more
