From TERRA to TERRA II

We are delighted to be able to share with you that on April 4, 2014 the EU Commission informed us that the project TERRA II will be awarded with a grant.

We are delighted to announce that TERRA’s toolkit, developed during TERRA I, has now been launched.  These tools were designed to prevent and identify radicalisation processes, and to help professionals supporting those who want to disengage from a radical group.

The complete Terra Toolkit is  available in our site. http://terratoolkit.eu/

During Terra II, we will be further developing this work and by creating a train the trainers program, and delivering this in several European countries. This training will reach  front line workers such as teachers, law enforcement personnel, religious leaders, journalists, policy makers and social and youth workers working with susceptible individuals and vulnerable communities.

TERRA II will also further develop the policy advice for local and national governments provided by TERRA I. A kick off event in Brussels will include representatives from all of the European countries and a needs assessment, to map the most pressing issues of policy where advice and support is needed.  A research trajectory will then create tailor made policy advice for European policy makers, addressing prevention, integration, and deradicalisation.

A third pillar of TERRA II will be the development of a Citizenship Curriculum. Research shows that people who are more integrated into society at the level of political participation are more resilient towards radicalisation. This curriculum will be developed by University College Roosevelt and will be tested and piloted on secondary school children in the Netherlands.

Both TERRA I and TERRA II have been funded by the European Commission, under the Prevention of and Fight against Crime Programme of the European Union.
